Genius Hour Intro

Genius Hour is a really cool, innovative technique to use in the classroom! It gives students and authentic opportunity to research something that really interests and motivates them. As teachers are always struggling to attend to the interests of their students to get them invested and motivated to learn, this takes the cake as the ultimate tool to doing just that! I have not had the opportunity to observe or teach in a class that is taking on this type of learning just yet, but I am hoping that will soon change. It seems like a very intimidating thing to start with the pressure educators already face to cover such a wide variety of content and character education, but it can be manageable if time is budgeted right. This approach to learning teaches our students so many of the 21st century skills and literacies that we strive to incorporate into their learning already.
