Hello
Readers!
In reflecting on my second
week doing my Genius Hour, I wanted to talk about breakfast! Breakfast is one
of my favorite meals of the day! But I often find it hard to get in a good
breakfast when I have early morning classes. That’s been my struggle in the
past and it’s a big barrier to me eating enough food in a day depending on my
schedule. This is when I often get weak and buy food on campus, which a lot of
the time isn’t that good for me! I’m sure I’ve had enough Tim Horton’s muffins
to last me a lifetime.
I love my sleep! I
prioritize it very heavily! I aim to get an eight hours sleep every night and
when I don’t, I really feel the difference. I like to wake up slowly and take
my time. My bed is probably my favorite place ever in the morning when I wake
up. So when I have classes in the morning, I have a tough time getting out of
bed in time to make a nice breakfast before I need to run out of the door and
head to school or work.
Recently though, I found a
healthy and low-maintenance breakfast I can take with me on the run and eat in
class or at work with minimal preparation! This has really proven to be life
changing for me and I can now say that I get in a good breakfast just about
every morning. I bring myself a Tupperware container with vanilla Greek yogurt,
a small container with granola, a banana, and a spoon and butter knife. With
that, I’m all set! When I’m ready to eat, I slice up my banana and put that and
the granola into my yogurt and I’m good to go! It tastes great, is healthy, and
super easy!
Being able to make this
change in habit has been something that I’m really proud of! I had an obstacle
holding me back from maintaining my goal, and I was able to overcome it! This
small bit of progress has made a big impact on my day, saves me money, it
healthier, and still allows me a nice easy morning! I’m calling this a win!
